You have chosen a great place to work!
Chick-fil-A began in 1967 as a tiny addition to the shops at Greenbriar Mall in Atlanta, GA in 1967. Today, there are over 3,000 locations nationwide, as well as locations in Canada and Puerto Rico, with more international locations around the corner! This location opened in 2022, after over 25 years in our original location less than one mile to the east, and we are continuing to grow and experience new levels of success. We believe you are going to be part of what makes Chick-fil-A Suwanee Rd better than ever!
Chick-fil-A had a reputation for providing a unique sandwich that quickly became a favorite of mall shoppers across Georgia and the Southeast.
Truett would make sure that each operator understood his commitment to top-notch quality and warm-hearted hospitality. And as time went by and the company expanded, our customers began to see that we were not only providing a delicious meal with exceptional service, but also serving them more quickly than our competitors.
These features–high quality, delicious food, and fast service–are still the things that make Chick-fil-A stand out among all other fast food restaurants today.
To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us
To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A
After seeing Chick-fil-A become a more well-known and widely loved brand, Truett and his senior leaders realized that before they could go forward as a company, they needed to define the reason the entire enterprise existed. They needed to know their “why.” After a weekend of exploring the things that really mattered, they realized that Chick-fil-A wasn’t really about Chicken at all. It was much more about doing their very best to use what God had entrusted to them to make a positive impact in people’s lives. This same purpose guides our business today. Truett never insisted that his employees hold the same faith that he did, but he always knew that every team member would hold the same values that he did when it comes to how they will do their job on a daily basis.
Our vision is to be the world’s most caring company by winning hearts every day
Our purpose statement tells us why we exist. Our vision tells us what it will look like to execute that purpose statement in a practical way
Great Food
Genuine Hospitality
Fast & Accurate Service
Clean & Safe Environment
When we do these things, our guests know that we care. Tracing their roots all the way back to our founding, these are the things that distinguish us from all other fast-food restaurants
At Chick-fil-A Suwanee, our goal is to thoroughly equip you to be successful in carrying out this mission and vision, and to feel confident and rewarded in your work. We will take time to train you in each position in your area. Sometimes it will feel like it’s moving slowly, and sometimes you will feel like you are holding on for a wild ride! In the end, you will find yourself completely capable of doing your job very well, and you will be please with the results.
Don’t worry if it doesn’t feel like you’re getting the hang of it right away. Every day for the first couple weeks, you will be getting used to many things at once. Soon after, you will begin to feel like you really do “get it” and your confidence will rise along with your skill level. Meanwhile, you will be building great friendships and finding yourself feeling like you really are part of the team!
When you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask. No one expects you to know everything without some repetition.
Each day, our Shift Leads watch over the entire operation. They manage the people and processes that comprise our day-to-day business. They are here to support our team, to ensure that we maintain the standards of our brand, and to achieve our business goals on each shift. They are eager to help you find your way around your new home-away-from-home.
In addition to our Shift Leads, you will meet various Team Leads that lead the various Zones in the restaurant. Both Front of House and Back of House are divided into three zones, which will have Team Leads who care for both team members and processes within their areas.
While you have already seen our policies when you signed our handbook during your onboarding, we have found that a review of these few items can help ensure that you are successful as a team member.
It is expected that you will be at work and on time for each shift. On time means being here early enough to clock in and be in position when it is time for your shift to start.
When it is not an emergency, you must find someone to cover your shift. Otherwise, you will be expected to be at work.
Additionally, if you find that you will be late, you will need to call the Shift Lead to report your expected tardiness. And be aware that multiple tardies will be treated as unexcused absences.
We observe a no-electronics policy. Your phone should not be in use while you are clocked in. Neither should you have earbuds in, even if they are not actively being used. Smart watches, as well, should not be used for communication, entertainment, or other activities that would mirror those excluded by then broader electronics policy.
You will receive a 30-minute break for every shift that is at least 5 hours. You will clock out at the beginning of your break period, then a Shift Lead or Zone Lead (Team Lead) will assist you in ordering your food. At the conclusion of your break, you will need to clean up, use the restroom, put away personal items, etc., and clock in once you are ready to return to your position. Because breaks must be managed on a tight timeframe, it is essential that you observe these guidelines, and that you complete your break in the 30-minute time period.
Break food is free up to $12. Any cost above that will be your responsibility to pay. Additionally, your break food may consist of the following
If you work a shift that is less than 5 hours, you will not have a break. However, you will still receive your free meal. You may either arrive early and have it prior to the start of your shift, or take it home with you at the end.
In addition to free break food, you are permitted to purchase food at a discount for yourself and your family at 50% off, with these guidelines:
Please be aware that food left at the end of the day is not free to take home. Taking food without paying for it will result in termination. Additionally, using your discount to purchase food for someone other than the intended family members will result in termination. Honesty is a serious matter.
Also be aware that while it is always our intention to offer breaks, there could be an occasion that requires us to shorten break, although that is very rare and almost always limited to leaders.
We observe safety in three primary ways:
Food Safety- you are expected to maintain food-safe practices at all times
Physical Safety- you should avoid horseplay, running, misuse of equipment, or any other behaviors that may create unnecessary or inappropriate risk
Emotional / Psychological Safety- you should treat others with honor, dignity, and respect. There should be no racial, sexual, or abusive language, even in play. You are expected to avoid threats and intimidation. Further, you are expected to avoid the use of foul language at all times, whether ‘on the clock” or not, any time you are on the property.
